CHANDPUR, Jan 12: Believe it or not, a big piece of ice suddenly fell from the cloudy sky on a crop field in Berkey village under Royosree south union of Shahrasti upazila of the district Wednesday morning. The weight of this huge piece of ice was about 100 kg, said all the curious people.
Witnesses Saiful Islam, Abu Sayeed and many others of this village told this correspondent that while working in the crop field at 10 am., they were thunderstruck to see this huge piece of ice that suddenly fell near them with a big sound but none was injured.
While taking tea in a tea stall near the spot, Prof Ruhul Amin of Nunia Fazil Madrasa, who also rushed to the spot and saw, with surprise and awe, this huge piece of ice, which was then melting.
Curious people of all ages also rushed to the spot and collected pieces of ice by breaking this huge piece of ice.
UP Chairman Md Abu Hanif also went to the spot and was taken aback seeing this huge piece of ice. The incident became the talk of the upazila and other places. Elderly people termed this as freak of nature.
