Sushasaner Janno Nagarik, known as Sujan, on Monday feared influence of money in the electioneering for the upcoming Khulna City Corporation polls as a good
number of businessmen are contesting the polls.
‘Some 95 out of three mayoral, 137 councillor and 45 women councillor candidates are businessmen by profession. So, the possibility of the influence of money in the KCC elections cannot be ruled out,’ said Sujan secretary Badiul Alam Majumder while reading out a Sujan report on the Khulna city polls at a press conference in Khulna.
‘One may take it for guaranteed that this information of Sujon will help voters choose an honest and eligible candidate in the upcoming city elections,’ he said.
According to the report, 30 male and 3 female candidates contesting for councilor posts are accused in different cases under relevant sections of Bangladesh penal code while five other councillor candidates are accused in murder cases.
None of the three mayoral candidates is now wanted in any case while one mayoral candidate and two male councillors candidates are millionaire, the report said.
