‘Sundarbans can boost economy’
Khulna city Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque yesterday said Bangladesh’s reputation will increase and economy get stronger if the Sundarbans is elected as a natural wonder.
So we must irrespectively work together to help Bangladesh’s vast mangrove forest win the final race scheduled for November 11 this year, he says.
Khaleque made the urge while inaugurating a voting campaign for the Sundarbans on the office premises of Rupantar, a non-government organisation.
Earlier, the mayor led a big colourful procession organised by Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) Sundarban Regiment, which paraded the main streets of Khulna city.
BNCC set up two booths on Rupantar’s office compound at KDA Avenue. People can vote for the Sundarbans through the Internet there.
