Admission tests for first year honours courses of 2010-11 session at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) will be held on November 6.
Examinations of ‘ka’ (Faculties of social science & business studies) unit will be held at 10:00 am and `kha’ (science) unit at 3:00 pm on the day.
At least 30,193 candidates will vie for 1,395 seats in 25 subjects this year. On an average, 22 students will compete for each seat, while children of freedom fighters, adivasi and others will get 63 seats under quota system.
Meanwhile, 13,766 candidates have applied under social science & business faculty against only 595 seats and 16,369 are vying for 735 seats under science faculty, university sources said.
In total, 30,193 forms were collected through SMS on mobile phone.
This year, Sust is going to open three new departments eelectronics & electrical engineering (EEE), biochemistry & molecular biology and geography & environmental science. The quota system in the admission process is also to be introduced for the first time, admission committee sources informed.
Sust is the first among the universities to introduce the system of receiving admission forms through SMS.
