Ten students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology have been awarded for writing articles and fictions on science.
SUST vice-chancellor Aminul Haque Bhuiyan as chief guest handed over the awards at a programme held at the mini-auditorium on the campus Sunday evening, campus sources said.
The lone science affairs student organisation of the university, SUST Science Arena, in association with i-ferry.com, an online portal, arranged the competition.
More than 100 students of different disciplines of the university participated in two categories of the contests, the organisers said. Among the 10 winner contestants, 2 were also selected as ‘favorite’ by the readers’ votes, they said.
The science articles titled Nano-Tube written by Shafiqul Islam, Ground temperature: feasibility of recharging by Pranav Kumar Biswas, Green fuel: animal’s social behavior and intelligence by Avik Das, Story of ants by Nazmul Hossain and World’s worst poisonous fish by Rezaul Islam were selected for the award.
The story titled Attamrittu by Tawhid An Nur, Force controller by Ranjit Biswas, Diganta by Nazmul Hossain, Nil manab sabuj manabi by Abdullah Al Masud and Diganta of Shafiqul Islam were selected for the awards in the science fiction writing contest.
SUST treasurer Elias Uddin Biswas and proctor Himadri Sekhar Roy, among others, attended the programme as special guests. After the award ceremony, the 10th executive committee of SUST Science Arena was also formed.
