The Shahjalal University of Science and Technology authorities are going to hold a reunion of former students of the university for the first time after two decades of its inception in 1991.
The authorities have also formed an advisory body and the 1st reunion observation committee for carrying out the preparatory activities.
SUST vice-chancellor Md Saleh Uddin disclosed the information in an exchange of views with journalists on the campus Thursday afternoon.
He informed that necessary steps to hold the first reunion were already
taken and December 24 has been fixed as the tentative date of holding the programme.
The vice-chancellor was made convener of the reunion affairs advisory body and the former vice-presidents and general secretaries of the Shahjalal University Central Student Union would be made members on the body.
Besides, renowned academics and civil society representatives also would be included as members, the meeting informed.
The economics department chief and university’s first-batch student, Hasanuzzaman Shyamal, was made the convener of the reunion observation committee, former SUCSU vice-president KM Ashraful Azim member secretary, university’s teacher association secretary Faruk Uddin and SUCSU’s former literature secretary Ali Ahmed Abidur Rahman joint-secretary.
The university proctor, SM Saiful Islam, was made chief of the security and disciplinary sub-committee while student affairs adviser Mohammad Younus chief of the fund coordination and account management sub-committee.
SUST vice-chancellor in the meeting informed the journalists that the names of the rest sub-committees would be disclosed soon.
