Swiss entrepreneurs are interested to set up hi-tech factories in the country’s agro- processing and small and medium enterprise sectors to add value to the produced production.
A Swiss business delegation expressed this interest during a meeting with industries minister Dilip Barua at his office on Monday.Eric Martin, ambassador of the Federal Council for Trade Agreement and head of Bilateral Economic Relations, led the business delegation.
During the meeting, various issues, including further expansion of bilateral trade, were discussed.
The delegation showed interest to invest in the country’s ICT, cement and textile sectors and stressed protecting the property rights for knowledge-based industrialisation.
Dilip Barua urged the Swiss delegation to come with more investments in the country to take the advantages of the domestic market, as the people’s purchasing capability has been increasing gradually.
Head of Section of the Bilateral Economic Relations Asia/Oceania Terence Billoter, Regional Director of Asia Pacific Wolfgang Schangzenbach, Swiss ambassador to Bangladesh Urs Herren, deputy head of mission Caroline Trautweiler, industries ministry joint secretary Md Khalilur Rahman Siddiquee and Department of Patents, Designs and Trademarks registrar Md Abdur Rauf, among others, were present at the meeting.
