Sylhet Divisional Cricket Stadium will be baptised as an international venue with a one-day international between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka on February 17, the Bangladesh Cricket Board announced on Wednesday. The BCB announced the itinerary for the Sri Lanka series, which includes two Tests and as many Twenty20 Internationals along with three one-dayers.The Islanders will arrive on January 24, three days before the first Test begins at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on January 27.
Sri Lanka will travel to Chittagong on February 1 for the second Test and two T20Is, which will be held at the port city respectively on February 4-8, February 12 and February 14.
The one-day series will start in Sylhet, one of the three cities that are scheduled to host the ICC World Twenty20 later in March-April.
Sylhet was scheduled to make its international de but with a T20I against New Zealand on November 6, but the BCB later shifted the venue to Dhaka to facilitate the construction works.
The International Cricket Council has set a deadline for the venue to be ready by November 30. The second and third Sri Lanka ODIs will be held in Dhaka on February 20 and 22 just before the Asia Cup cricket.
