Duronto Rajshahi captain Tamim Iqbal became the first cricketer to receive a penalty in the Bangladesh Premier after the match referee fined him Tk 50,000 for maintaining a slow over rate during their match against Sylhet Royals.
Match referee Roquibul Hassan imposed the fine after Duronto were ruled to be two overs short at the end of their innings when time allowances were taken into consideration as per the tournament’s playing condition.
Tamim accepted the offence and the sanction and as such no formal hearing was required, said the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
