Bangladesh vice captain and opening batsman Tamim Iqbal will make his county debut today for the Nottinghamshire in their match against Derbyshire in the Friends Life T20 championship.
Upon his arrival at the Heathrow Airport, the left handed batsman was received by the Nott’s manager Mick Newell. Before making his debut today, Tamim attended the practise session with the rest of the team on Thursday.
“I have met everyone in the team and they were all nice. I am really glad to be wearing the Nott’s colour not only because they are a leading side but also because of their hospitality,” said Tamim. Tamim replaced Australian David Hussey for six T20 matches as the Aussie had to attend a national duty which makes Tamim yet to get a full season contract for any county side.
“At this moment I only want to concentrate on the matches that I have to play. I hope I can prove myself worthy. So for the moment I don’t have anything else in my mind,” said Tamim.
Nottinghamshire is leading the Friends Life T20 points table 16 points from 10 matches.
