Opener Tamim Iqbal received an MRI scan from doctors on Wednesday as a precautionary measure after the southpaw felt some pain in his lower abdomen during the second one-dayer against New Zealand, said officials on Friday. Tamim was the highest scorer for the Tigers with 58 to help them defeat the visitors by 40 runs and seal the series by earning a 2-0 lead in the ongoing three-match ODI series.
On his way to the half-century that also made him Bangladesh’s highest run-scorer in ODIs, he complained about uneasiness in his abdomen area.
The Bangladesh think-tank sent him to the Apollo Hospital to undergo an MRI. The team management is expecting to get the report soon.
‘[Tamim] went for an MRI and we are expecting to receive the report
tomorrow [today],’ team manager Akram Khan told New Age.
‘Before that it is hard to comment about anything,’ said Akram.
Sources close to the team confirmed that the injury was not a major one as the dashing batsman seemed quite fine during the second ODI on Thursday.
