BNP Senior Vice President Tarique Rahman will return home soon and take the party’s responsibility, and he will face the corruption allegation brought against him, says BNP chairperson’s Adviser Shamsuzzaman Dudu. Addressing a press conference at the BNP central office in the city’s Naya Paltan area on Monday, the BNP leader strongly protested and condemned sending of the party’s Standing Committee Member MK Anwar in prison and demanded his release immediately.
Mentioning the statement of Tarique Rahman, who has recently made in London, Dudu said his statement created panic among the leadership of the ruling Awami League (AL).
He claimed that Tarique Rahman is not fugitive; rather he is staying in London for treatment following the legal process. Tarique Rahman has been taking treatment in London under the directive of the higher court.
“It will be tantamount to undermine the court if he is described as fugitive,” he added.
He said the BNP is respectful to the law of the land but the allegation brought against MK Anwar is a bailable one.
Moreover, there are some rules to arrest any lawmaker before and after the Parliament session but it is not maintain in the case of MK Anwar, MP, he claimed.
Dudu said the arrest of MK Anwar without taking permission from Speaker proved that the Parliament turned into ineffective one.
Among others, Abdul Latif Joney and Shamimur Rahman were present at the briefing.
