The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh on Sunday started selling four essential commodities in the open market across the country to ensure smooth supply and check price spiral of the items during the fasting month of Ramadan TCB is selling the four items — lentils, edible oil,
sugar and chickpea — via 2,981 dealers countrywide.As many as 170 trucks, including 25 in Dhaka, 10 in Chittagong, five in each divisional city, will be engaged in selling the essential commodities, TCB officials said.
Anyone can buy soybean oil at Tk 121 (bottled) and Tk 105 per litre from the sales centres.
Palm oil is being sold at Tk 75 per litre while sugar at Tk 44 per kg, lentil at Tk 70 per kg and gram at Tk 60 per kg.
Some 1,000kg sugar, 200kg pulse and chickpea and 200 litres of soybean oil will be sold from each truck every day.
New Age Staff Correspondent in Khulna reports that the TCB had initiated sale of essential commodities in open trucks at five outlets of the Khulna metropolitan city and through 537 dealers of 14 districts of the south-western region of the country.
Khulna TCB regional chief Bazlur Rashid said 300 tonnes of gram, eight lakh litres of soyabean oil, 1,100 tonnes of lentil and 3,700 tonnes of sugar had been stocked in the TCB warehouses.
He further said that several surveillance teams would strictly monitor the programme to avert irregularities in sale of these essential commodities.
