The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh starts today selling of five essential commodities in the open market across the country with an aim to ensure smooth supply and keep the prices of the items affordable to consumers during the fasting month of Ramadan, said a TCB news release.
As many as 174 trucks, including 25 in Dhaka, 10 in Chittagong, five in each divisional city and two in each district town, will be engaged in selling lentils, edible oil, sugar, dates and gram.
The TCB said in the release that it would sell soya bean oil at Tk 107 per litre, sugar at Tk 39 per kg, lentil at Tk 65 per kg, gram at Tk 44 per kg and dates at Tk 70 per kg at the sale centres.
The five commodities are now selling at higher prices than the TCB-set prices in the city’s retail markets.
Soya bean oil is selling at Tk 112 per litre, sugar at Tk 46-Tk 48 per kg, lentil at Tk 75-Tk 90 per kg, gram at Tk 60 per kg and dates at Tk 130-Tk 250 per kg in the capital’s retail markets.
