WhatsApp down for thousands in Bangladesh, returns to normal

Many countries report disruptions

Tech Desk : dhakamirror.com

WhatsApp is apparently experiencing difficulty for users across the country.

Downdetector.com indicates an increase in reports beginning at approximately 1 PM Bangladesh Standard Time.

When users login to the browser version (https://web.whatsapp.com/), the URL asks whether their internet is down and automatically logs them out. Users are then unable to log in to WhatsApp using the ‘linked devices’ option in browsers.

WhatsApp is apparently unavailable in India, Pakistan, the United States, and the United Kingdom at the time of writing.

Meta has made no public announcements as of yet.

This is the first time WhatsApp has been unavailable since last year’s big outage, which also affected other Meta platforms including as Facebook and Instagram. Facebook was apparently down at the time owing to router configuration changes. However, Facebook and Instagram are currently operational, with just WhatsApp users reporting troubles.

However, some users have reported that WhatsApp is back online hours after the first report of the outage.
