Mahfuz Ahmed tells
Popular actor Mahfuz Ahmed does not find any challenge in acting in teleplays which, he thinks, are just repetitions of same stories, in same locations and with the same casts.
Mahfuz Ahmed himself has been directing plays for different television channels where, the actor-director says that, he tries to reach out to the audience with more life-like stories. One of Ahmed’s mega serials Amader Chhoto Nadi Chole Bake Bake will begin airing from today on private television channel Channel i.
In a recent interview with New Age Mahfuz Ahmed speaks of his present activities and endeavours.
At present Ahmed is working as the main character in Animesh Aich’s feature film Zero Degree which is being produced by Play House.
However, observing the present outcomes of the TV channels, Ahmed says that, ‘Most of the teleplays aired nowadays are typical and often seems to be boring. Consequently, the audience turn to Hindi or Indian-Bangla programmes which are readily available on the TV,’ said Mahfuz Ahmed.
Ahmed supposes that lack of talent, passion and commitment within the related personnel may be the causes of coming up with such outcomes in our country.
‘It is not that there aren’t any talented people working in the industry. But they are perhaps more concerned with money making than creating something beautiful,’ Ahmed added.
Mahfuz Ahmed, therefore, takes it to be his responsibility as a committed actor-director to make some quality teleplays for the audience.
As implementation of that responsibility, Ahmed has directed another mega serial titled Mago Tomar Jonno to be aired soon on ATN Bangla.
Besides his directorial ventures, Ahmed is also acting in the lead role of Animesh Aich’s film Zero Degree.
‘My role in Zero Degree is vastly different from the typical lover-boy role of heroes in films. In fact, the film has a compelling story. It is a kind of psycho-action thriller,’ shared Mahfuz Ahmed.
Popular actress Joya Ahsan and ramp model-turned actress Ruhi have acted against Mahfuz Ahmed in the film.
Almost eighty percent shooting of the film has been completed. The director and the producers of the film hope to release it on the first day of the Bangla New Year.
‘I hope that the film will be able to attract the audience back to the cinemas,’ expected Mahfuz Ahmed.
