Mahfuz Ahmed observes
Popular actor and director Mahfuz Ahmed urges everybody to work together in order to improve the quality of the TV productions as he believes that the small screen industry has already hit the rock bottom.
He also believes that the senior artistes should play the lead roles to revive the lost glory for in his perception it is their responsibility towards the small screen industry, through which they have earned fame.
Mahfuz also claims that he and his peers are bearing the responsibility and the outcome will be reflected this Eid. ‘Our TV production has reached the bottom line. As senior actors, it’s our duty to work together to elevate its standard. Otherwise, the viewers will lose interest, which will be a big loss for the newly developed industry,’ Mahfuz Ahmed told New Age.
‘Realising the fact, we have already initiated some projects and the viewers will witness the results this Eid. The quality of the Eid productions have improved this year and the viewers will experience diversity in plots,’ said popular romantic hero Mahfuz Ahmed adding that he had acted in various characters in over 10 Eid teleplays and tele-films in this Eid.
According to Mahfuz Ahmed he tried to come out of the image stereotyping him as a romantic hero this Eid. ‘For instance I’d say the viewers will love to watch Sangri La, a seven-episode teleplay to be aired on SA TV during the Eid festival. It’s collective work from me and four of my renowned peers including Azizul Hakim, Shahiduzzaman Seilm, Zahid Hasan and Tauqir Ahmed. We made all the decisions together for the production considering it our brainchild and also enjoyed working together because we miss out on catching up in our hectic lives,’ added Mahfuz.
The prominent actor has enacted the character of a gambler in Sangri La, filmed in Nepal. ‘Viewers have hardly seen me playing a negative character who has amassed huge wealth and wasted those in bars and casinos,’ Mahfuz said.
Mahfuz Ahmed has also directed two teleplays titled Andharer Aboshan and Sarisrip, which will be aired respectively on NTV and Channel-i during the Eid festival. ‘In Sarisrip, the viewers will see me in the character of a corporate professional whose live revolves around his work and he does not bother much about his family,’ he said.
The popular artiste also believes that viewers will enjoy his performances in other teleplays and tele-films directed by Animesh Aich, Arif Khan, Sakal Ahmed, Chayanika Chowdhury and others.
