Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, on Monday said the last war for democracy and development has begun and sought votes for the Awami League’s (AL’s) ‘boat’ symbol in the next election, saying that the AL-led government intends to complete the unfinished tasks of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Joy delivered addresses at three meetings held in Tangail. While the first meeting was held at Rani Bhabani Model High School under Madhupur upazila, the second one was held at Bhashani Hall in Tangail town. He gave a speech in the school field of Zamorki Abdul Gani High School in Mirzapur upazila in the afternoon.
Joy said Bangabandhu had liberated the country to achieve a golden Bangla through an economic emancipation. But the progress towards achieving the goal was halted in 1975, he observed.
He said the opposition has been trying to create uncertainty over the upcoming national election.
“Remain active and raise your united voice against the propaganda of BNP-Jamaat-Hefazat combine.
If we can remain united and work together in the polls, I strongly believe none can defeat our party, “he said pointing at the leaders and workers of Tangail District Awami League (AL) while addressing as the chief
guest at its workers conference at Bhashani Hall here in the district headquarters today. Referring to the remarks of the opposition leader that they (BNP-led combine) would exempt all the war criminals of their punishment, if they could assume power again, Joy said, “Its can’t be.
The war criminals can’t be freed without trial. The opposition leader would not succeed in her conspiracy, if Awami League is voted to power again.”
“The party candidates should not be taken into consideration as the big factor, cast your vote for Awami League’s poll symbol ‘boat’ in the election.
Earlier, speaking at a huge public rally on the second day of his electioneering tour to greater Mymensingh, Joy made a fervent appeal to the people to give their mandate to Awami League again.
“People of the country under the charismatic leadership of Bangabandhu achieved independence fighting a bloody war.
“The war has not ended yet.
“The war has begun again under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina. This time, it’s the election war and it will be our last war, in which we have no option left but to win for building a golden country,” said Joy.
