Three theatre troupes of the country paid tribute to the recently demised theatre actor-director Khaled Khan on Wednesday through plays, songs, recitations and reminiscent speeches at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Nagarik Natya Sampraday, the troupe of which Khaled Khan was a member since 1978, organised a commemorative programme at the National Theatre Hall; theatre troupe Subachan Natya Sangsad staged a play Mohajaner Nao dedicated to Khaled Khan at the Experimental Theatre Hall; and another theatre troupe Swapnadal staged Chitrangada at the Studio Theatre Hall.
All the three theatre halls of the academy were decorated with photographs of the actor and it looked like a day dedicated to Khaled Khan.
Around forty members of Nagarik Natya Sampraday began their programme with a devotional song Antar Mamo Bikashita Karo.
Noted theatre activists and members of Nagarik including Ali Zaker, Sara Zaker, Asaduzzaman Noor, Ataur Rahman; of other troupes Nasiruddin Yusuff, Azad Abul Kalam, Ramendu Majumdar, Tropa Majumdar recalled their cherished memories of the late Khaled Khan.
The main attraction of the programme was a recorded recitation by Khaled Khan of Nirmalendu Goon’s famous poem Tumi Chole Jachchho played at the programme. The audience remained completely silent as Khaled’s recitation of the poem was being played.
