At least three people were killed and 15 others injured in separate road accidents in Gopalganj, Dinajpur, Gaibandha yesterday.
A correspondent from Gopalganj reports : At least one person was killed and 15 others were injured in a road accident on Gopalganj-Tekerhat road at Tentulia under Sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased is Yeasin, 25, helper of the bus and son of Aroz Ali of Kangsur village of the same upazila.
Locals said the accident occurred when the driver of a Madaripur-bound passenger bus of ‘Rupshi Paribahan’ from Khulna lost his control over the steering and fell into a roadside pond, leaving Yeasin dead on the spot.
On information, members of Fire Brigade and Civil Defence from Gopalganj rushed to the spot and with the help of the local people rescued the injured passengers and sent them to Gopalganj Sadar hospital.
Our correspondent from Dinajpur adds : A man was killed in a road accident on Dinajpur-Phulbari highway at Khoniyadihi village of Dinajpur Sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased is identified Norendra Nath Roy, 60, of village Bisnapur of Sadar upazila.
Police said the accident took place at about 12:20pm when a Dinajpur-bound speedy truck hit Norendra from behind while he was riding a bicycle, leaving Norendra dead on the spot.
Locals seized the truck, but the driver and helper of the truck fled away.
Our correspondent from Gaibandha : A motorcyclist was killed in a head-on collision with a speedy truck on Gaibandha-Palashbari road at Tinmile yesterday.
The deceased is Ratan Ghosh, 35, of village Naldanga under Sadullapur Upazila
Police said the accident took place at about 6:45pm when a Gaibandha-bound speedy loaded truck collided head-on with the motorcycle, leaving its rider dead on the spot.
Soon after the accident the driver and helper of the truck fled away.
Police seized the truck.
A case was filed with Gaibandha Sader Police station.
