At least three people were killed and 20 others injured in separate road accidents in Netrakona, Lalmonirhat and Chapainawabganj on Saturday and yesterday.
Our correspondent from Netrakona reports: A construction labourer was killed and 15 others injured in a road accident in Rampur-Durgashram road under Kendua upazila in Netrakona yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Khalilur Rahman, 16, son of Hashimuddin of village Chandangati under Netrakona sadar upazila.
Police said the accident occurred when a Netrakona-bound bus knocked down a engine-driven three-wheeler carrying 20 to 25 construction labourers on Netrakona-Kendua road, killing Khalilur on the spot and injuring the others.
Seriously injured Jahurul Islam was sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital while the others were admitted to Kendua Upazila Health Complex and Netrakona Sadar Hospital.
Our correspondent from Lalmonirhat adds: A man was killed and five others of a family were injured in a road accident in Ambari area of Lalmonirhat sadar upazila on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Afzal Hossain alias Budha, 78, of Kisamot Harati village of the district.
Critically injured Azahar Ali, 73, Hossain Ali, 65, Ansar Ali, 48, Akher Ali, 30, and Sohag, 7, of the same family and residents of Kisamot Harati village of the district, were taken to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital.
Police said the accident occurred when an engine-run three-wheeler carrying the victims fell in a roadside ditch while trying to avoid an incoming microbus on Kulaghat-Barobari road, killing Afzal on the spot and injuring the others.
Our correspondent from Chapainawabganj reports: An elderly man was killed in a road accident in Rashiknagar area of Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj yesterday morning.
The deceased was identified as Matiur Rahman, 80, of the area.
Police said the accident occurred when a Chapainawabganj-bound truck hit Matiur while he was crossing the road on Chapainawabganj-Sonamasjid Land Port Highway in front of Chhatrajitpur union council office.
