At least three people were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents in Sylhet, Satkhira and Benapole yesterday.
Staff correspondent from Sylhet reports: A young man was killed and two others injuried in a road accident on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Sylhet yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Sumon Kanti Dey, 25, of Jagonnathpur upazila in Sunamganj.
Locals said the accident took place when a Comilla-bound bus from Sylhet hit a CNG-run auto rickshaw near Rashidpur in Biswanath uapzila.
The auto rickshaw driver Abdul Haque and passenger Abdul Maleque injured critically as the bus rammed it at about 11:30am.
They were admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital while the physicians declared Sumon dead.
The driver of the bus fled the spot just after the accident.
Sherpur Police seized the passenger bus.
Our correspondent from Satkhira adds: A motorcyclist was killed in a road accident on Satkhira-Kaliganj road near Bakal Cold Storage in Satkhira yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Shafiqul Islam, 24, son of Samsur Rahman of village Sabujbag in Sadar upazila.
Quoting locals police said the accident occurred when a Satkhira-bound truck hit the motorcyclist from opposite direction at about 3:00pm, leaving Shafiqul dead on the spot.
UNB from Benapole reports: A motorcyclist was killed when a speedy bus rammed his bike at Amtola in Sharsha upazilla yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Abdus Sobhan, 30, son of Monsur Ali of Gadkhali Sharifpur village in Jhikorgachha upazila.
Enamul Haque, sub inspector of Bagachra Police Camp, said the accident occurred at about 10:30am when the Satkhira-bound bus hit Sobhan’s motorcycle from behind on his way to Navaron, leaving him dead on the spot.
Police seized the bus but its driver fled the scene.
A case was filed in this connection.
