A 1-1 series draw against Australia in the just concluded two-Test series on home soil gave Bangladesh five rating points although there were no changes in their Test rankings as they were remained in ninth position of the recent ICC rankings. Bangladesh, who started the series in ninth position with 69 rating points, gained five rating points and they are now only one point behind of West Indies who are currently playing a three-Test series against England.
Australia, who were at number three Test ranked side before the series, lost three rating points after they lost the first Test in Dhaka and dropped to fifth position in the latest ICC Test rankings.
Although the Tigers lost the second Test in Chittagong, batsmen Mushfiqur Rahim, Sabbir Rahman and bowlers Mehedi Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman moved up their Test rakings with their individual performances against the visiting side.
Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim gained one place to reach 22nd position with career best rating points of 658 after scoring 68 and 31 runs respectively in the second Test in Chittagong.
Middle order batsman Sabbir Rahman jumped 22 slots to reach 73rd position in the rankings after scoring 66 and 24 runs respectively.
Spinner Mehedi Hasan gained one slot to reach 29th position after he finished with 3-93 in the first innings.
Pacer Mustafizur Rahman who got five wickets in the match saw him gaining 12 slots to reach 43rd position in the rankings.
