Members of the Bangladesh cricket team were given two days off from all sort of cricketing activities after Friday’s nerve-wracking win against Ireland.
All players left the hotel to be with their family after a light gym work and swimming and are expected to report back to the team management this afternoon.
The break apparently came to help the players refresh their minds after the 27-run win over Ireland took a heavy toll on them – physically and mentally. Bangladesh were under immense pressure to win the game and it doubled up after the batsmen put on a below-par total.
‘I am happy to have got the break. World Cup is a long tournament, so we will always need this kind of break,’ said Shafiul Islam, who shot to fame with a match-winning performance.
‘This kind of break brings in a lot of new energy which can only help you get focussed on cricket,’ he said.
Nazmul Hossain, who is yet to play a match in the World Cup, also agreed with Shafiul.
‘Back home we are always patted on our back and this also inspires us to perform better,’ said Nazmul.
