Bangladesh may host West Indies in November for a limited over series, said a senior Bangladesh Cricket Board official on Saturday. West Indies are interested to tour Bangladesh to play four Twenty20 internationals as part of their preparation for the ICC World Twenty20 scheduled to be played in India in 2016. Naimur Rahman, BCB’s cricket operation chairman, however, said they are willing to host two Twenty20 internationals and two one-day internationals.
The series will be an addition to Bangladesh’s already busy season when they are scheduled to play India in June, South Africa in July-August and Australia in October.
It raised suspicion whether the BCB is neglecting the domestic cricket in order to give national team more international matches. Naimur however was quick to dismiss the fear, saying that they will hold domestic competition without the national players, if necessary.
‘We will not give our domestic cricket less priority for anything,’ said Naimur.
‘We will give highest priority to domestic cricket. With many series, we must think of completing the domestic season without national players.’
Naimur pointed out that BCB is looking forward to arrange some games for the Bangladesh A-team as they believe it would be crucial for development of cricket.
Recently, BCB launched their High Performance programme for grooming the upcoming cricketers.
‘Our A-team will tour Zimbabwe in October. We are trying to include South Africa in that series as well,’ said Naimur.
