Bangladesh national team will be looking forward to get a consolation win in their last match of the month-long South Africa tour as they take on hosts in the second and final Twenty20 international in Potchefstroom today. The match will start at 6.30pm Bangladesh Standard Time and will be televised live on GTV, Maasranga TV and Sony Six channel. The Tigers were clean swept by South Africa in both the preceding Test and one-day international series, but they displayed some positive cricket in the first Twenty20 match at Bloemfontein.
Although they lost the first match by 20 runs, they could at least play some competitive cricket for the first time in the whole tour as they scored 175-9, their highest ever Twenty20 score against South Africa.
Opener Soumya Sarkar could play a positive innings after series of failures as he scored 47 off 31 balls before his untimely dismissal took Bangladesh out of contest.
The rest of the players failed to capitalise on the platform and could score only 83 runs in the last 11 overs to suffer yet another defeat.
The youngsters like Saifuddin and Mehedi Hasan also showed some class in the match as Saifuddin hit an unbeaten 39 runs off 27 deliveries while Mehedi claimed the wickets of in-form Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers giving away just 31 runs in his four overs.
The Tigers could take the positives to the final match to try and finish an otherwise forgettable series on a high.
Bangladesh could play with an extra-batsman in the match at the expense of a pace bowler, who looked out of sort in the first as they did throughout the series, starting from Test to one-day international.
It could pave the way for Nasir Hossain, who last played a Twenty20 international match in the ICC World Twenty20 in 2016.
The hosts stand with a chance to test their bench by giving opportunity to wicket-keeper batsman Mangaliso Mosehle, all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius and Tabraiz Shamsi, who sit out in the final match.
