The national cricket team is all set to make a short trip to Australia before the ICC World Cup to attend a 15-day camp in order to get them accustomed to the condition, said an official of BCB on Tuesday. If everything goes according to plan, the cricketers will leave the country after the Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 tournament, which will end on January 5, said BCB’s cricket operation chief Akram Khan.
‘It’s almost confirmed,’ Akram told reporters on Tuesday. We are trying to do a camp there because the condition there is different from Bangladesh.
So, it will do good for the cricketers if they can have 15 days of training there and also play few one-day games.
‘This will help them to be more comfortable during the World Cup,’ said Akram.
Akram also insisted that, it should not be a big issue for the 2019 World Cup after it was revealed that only eight-teams will play straight into the main round while two others will come from the qualifying round.
Bangladesh are currently ninth in the ICC ODI rankings and if they cannot raise it to number eight by December 2017, they are all certain to play in the qualifying round.
‘Now we have the ability to perform. The team has performed well in the last two years, except from last three months, which I think can happen to any team,’ he added.
