Prominent and promising Nazrul singers presented timeless Nazrul songs on Tuesday at the Central Public Library auditorium at the programme organised by Bangladesh Nazrul Sangeet Sangstha marking 113th birth anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
The programme began with a chorus presentation of Nazrul song Jhar jhanjay ore nishan performed by the members of the organisation. The audiences could feel the raw taste of the Nazrul song in the energetic and passionate performance.
Since the aim of the programme was to promote young Nazrul singers, many promising artistes performed in the music evening. Child artistes presented Chandramallica chandramallica in chorus.
Promising artistes presented some evergreen Nazrul songs including Laili tomar esechhe phiria, Amay nohe go bholobasho shudhu, Mon-e rakhar din, Shono o sondhyamalati, E kon madhur sarab, and Shyama naamer laglo agun.
Renowned Nazrul singer Khairul Anam Shakil’s presentation of Nazrul song Chaitali chandni raatey with his stentorian voice modulation created a magical ambience.
Leena Tapashi Khan’s rendition of raga based song Meghla nishi bhorey was also enjoyable. Joseph Kamol Roderick’s performance of Shaon o raatey jodi, Mahmudul Hasan’s presentation of Ajhor dharay borosha jhorey and Ferdous Zakaria’s rendition of Keno ashiley bhalobashiley also got plaudits.
Earlier, eminent Nazrul singer and the president of the Sangstha Khalid Hossain, and Nazrul exponent Sudhin Das delivered speeches on Nazrul songs at a brief discussion session.
