Timeless songs of great three poets of Bengal—Dwijendralal Roy, Atul Prasad Sen and Rajanikanta Sen- were rendered on piano at a programme
on Saturday at Chhayanaut auditorium.
The show titled Three Poets and the Piano was organised by Ohornish Events. Talented singers Nirjhar Chowdhury and Joyeeta presented songs in duet and solo accompanied by Ehsanul Haq on piano and Iftekhar Alam Pradhan on tabla.
Bongo amar janani amar, evergreen patriotic song by Roy, created a joyful atmosphere at the hall when Nirjhar and Joyeeta sang in duet.
The duo also rendered Prasad’s remarkable patriotic song Moder garob moder asha and Sen’s Mayer diya mota kapor mathai bedhe ne re bhai. The rendering of the songs was beautifully synchronized with the accompanied instruments, soothing the ears of the listeners.
Nirjhar, in his melodious voice, presented Roy’s Aji natun rotone, Prasad’s Se keno dekha dilo and Sen’s Tumi nirmalo karo in solo presentations. His other presentations including Prasad’s K abar bajay bashi, Sen’s Preme jal hoye jao received loud applauses from the audience.
Owing to her spontaneous performance, Joyeeta grabbed the attention of the audience when she presented Roy’s Amra emni eshe, Prasad’s Badol rumujhumu and Dake koyela, and Sen’s Ami okriti odhom and several other numbers at the show.
Roy’s evergreen Dhono dhanne pushpe bhora was presented by the artistes in duet as the last performance of the evening.
