The Narayanganj City Corporation announced over Tk 403.92 crore budget for 2013-14 fiscal year on Tuesday, which is up by about Tk 88 crore compared with the last year’s budget.
The mayor, Selina Hayat Ivy, unveiled the budget at a programme in the presence of politicians, civil society members and people of different sections at the Nagar Bhaban in the afternoon.
Ivy sought cooperation from all to implement the budget.
The second budget of the city corporation envisages a revenue income of about Tk 1,244,082,936 crore and revenue expenditure of Tk 816,413,550 crore with a surplus of Tk 45,446,826 crore.
Of the proposed amount, Tk 41.65 crore has been allocated for the development sector and Tk 19.70 crore for renovation and maintenance of the infrastructure, Tk 182.39 crore for foreign aid-assisted projects and Tk 74 crore for annual development programmes.
Speaking on the occasion, Ivy said they kept special allocation for poverty reduction, information technology, development of the education, health and infrastructure, resolving traffic congestion, water-logging problem and waste management.
She said initiatives were underway to set up three health centres for improving health care facilities for the city dwellers, regional office of the corporation in Siddhirganj area and eco-park in Sonakanda Haat area.
The chief executive officer of NCC, Aminullah Nuri, and other councillors were also present.
