The country needs more skilled and trained technicians for the development of the industrial sector as well as economic progress, speakers said at a training session on Saturday.
They also viewed that there was no alternative to competency in the technical field to free the nation from the curse of unemployment.So, more emphasis should be given on making the technical institutions ‘need-oriented’ and effective for generating more competent workforce to meet the growing national demands.
The observations came at the inaugural session of a two-day training workshop styled ‘Role of recruitment officers in appointing trained technicians for removing unemployment and poverty’ held at the auditorium of Technical Training Centre in Rajshahi city.
Rajshahi mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton addressed the session as the chief guest with TTC principal engineer Mahbubur Rashid Talukder in the chair.
Assistant general manager of BSCIC Abdul Karim, director of Rajshahi Chamber Shahabuddin and owner of Sadat Properties Shalauddin Raju also spoke on the occasion.
Mayor Liton said that a person could transform himself into human resource by attaining competence after receiving technical education.
He called for establishing more technical institutions in the metropolis for creating skilled workforce.
‘We have no way but to train the youths to generate technically and technologically sound workforce,’ he said.
He called for more coordination among the country’s technical and vocational institutions and technical training centres for creating skilled human resources.
