Trains will start carrying passengers at half capacity from January 15 (Saturday) – maintaining health safety rules. The decision came following the new restrictions issued by the government yesterday to curb the ongoing spike of corona virus infections.
Bangladesh Railway (BR) will sell 25 percent of its tickets through its mobile phone app or online and 25 percent tickets will be available at the station counters.
BR Additional Director General (operation) Sarder Shahadat Ali confirmed the information to the media today.
Tickets for standing in the trains will not be sold.
No one will be allowed at the stations without masks, the official said.
