The Bangladesh Hockey Federation will start the three-day inter-club players’ transfer on October 29 as scheduled, BHF officials said after a working committee meeting on Thursday.
If any clubs do not participate they are to be relegated from the premier league to the first division as per the rules. ‘We will follow the by-laws to take the final decision if any club does not take part in the transfer,’ said BHF general secretary Khaja Rahamatullah on Friday.
Six premier division clubs – Mohammedan Sporting Clubs Limited, Mariner Youngs Club, Wari Club, Dhaka Wanderers Club, Bangladesh Sporting Club and Ajax SC – decided earlier not to take part in any hockey activities under the existing BHF committee and pulled out of the elections a few months ago.
Mohammedan, Mariner and Wari Club stuck to their previous decision to stay away from the transfer.
Executive committee members of the Dhaka Wanderers, however, decided in principal to take part in the upcoming inter-club players’ transfer, a club official confirmed on Friday.
‘We decided in principal that we will participate in the inter-club players’ transfer in our executive committee meeting,’ said Wanderers Club vice president Parvez Nizamuddin Chowdhury.
‘We don’t want to create any obstacle to the game. That is why we took that kind of decision,’ he added.
Bangladesh Sporting and Ajax are still unsure about whether they will take part or not.
