Belal Hossain Chowdhury, 34, joint news editor of private TV channel Somoy and two others were killed in separate road accidents in the city on Saturday, the police said.
The other victims were 30-year old Mohammad Yusuf, quality control manager of Vision Garment and 32-year old day labourer Mohammad Elahi.
Police said Belal suffered serious injuries on his head on way to IDB Bhavan, when a rickshaw carrying him from his Kafrul residence was knocked down by a bus of ETC Paribahan at around 11.30 AM.
He was rushed to Al Helal Clinic at Agargaon and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died at around 12.30 PM, hospital sources said.
His two-year old daughter Bony, 24-year old sister-in-law Naznin Sultana Boby and 21-year old brother-in-law Shohag, also in the same
rickshaw, were injured.
Belal was going to the IDB Bhaban to buy a computer for his sister-in-law, said family members.
The police said that they arrested the helper and seized the bus, but the driver had fled.
Colleagues said Belal had joined Somoy four months back, after serving Jamuna television and RTV.
Son of Fazar Uddin Bepari, he hailed from Gaibandha district.
Yusuf died run over by a human hauler when he was crossing a road near the BRTA office at Mirpur-13 at about 8 AM, the police said.
The police said that they arrested the driver and seized the vehicle.
Eldest among five sons and one daughter of Habibur Rahman Pramanik, Yusuf hailed from Bogra.
Elahi died when a speeding bus over ran him near the Khilkhet bus stand at about 1.30 PM.
Son of Wahed Ali, he hailed from Gazipur district.
The police said that they sent the bodies of the three victims to DMCH morgue for autopsy.
