Two accused sent to jail
A trial court on Tuesday sent two accused of Aminbazaar six students killing case to jail after they had appeared in the court seeking bail.
Two accused — Hazi Mohammad Akhil Uddin and Mohammad Saiful Islam — surrendered before the court and sought bail in the case.Dhaka second additional district and session’s judge Md Helal Uddin rejected the bail plea after hearing the argument of the both defence and prosecution.
The court sent them to the jail with court warrant.
The defence counsels — Sanaullah Miah and Masud Ahamed Talukder — mentioned that the accused were not named first information reports.
The additional public prosecutor, Ananda Chandra Bishwas, opposed bail plea.
On July 8, the court framed charged against 60 accused and set August 25 for prosecution witnesses.
Among them, five are in jail custody, 30 are out on bail and the remaining 25 have been absconding.
On January 13, the investigation officer of the case, additional police superintendent Sharif Uddin Ahmed of Rapid Action Battalion pressed charges against 60 people in connection with the killing of the six students.
On January 16, the court took cognizance of the charge-sheet.
The sensational murders took place in the early hours of July 18, 2011, when a mob at village Bardeshi in Aminbazar lynched six college and school students, allegedly mistaking them for robbers. Another student was injured critically.
