Two-day National Conference of leading children’s organisation Khelaghar was held at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Saturday and Sunday. The conference featured discussion sessions and cultural shows conducted by the representatives from different asars (units) of Khelaghar. The concluding day’s programmes featured a discussion session where finance minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhit, Golam Kuddus, president of the Sammilito Sangskritik Jote; Liaquat Ali Lucky, director general of the academy; professor Panna Kaisar, president of Kendrea Khelaghar Asar were present.
Noted artist Murtaza Bashir was bestowed with Shaheed Shahidullah Kaiser Smrity Padak at the programme. Bashir’s representative received the award on his behalf as the artist could not attend the programme due to illness.
Artistes from different asars of Khelaghar presented colourful music and dance renditions following the discussion session. Child artistes of Potuakhali Khelaghar presented two songs Aaj Jato Juddhobaj and Abar Jombe Mela in chorus.
Kendrea Khelaghar artistes presented the popular number Ei Din Din Noy Arro Din Achhe to entertain the audience. Group dance presentation by Arnab Khelaghar and Sommoni Khelaghar impressed.
Earlier, president Abdul Hamid inaugurated the conference on Saturday. Kendrea Khelaghar Asor president professor Panna Kaiser, Bangla Academy director general professor Shamsuzzman Khan, presidium member of Kendrea Khelaghar Asor professor Niranjan Odhikary and its general secretary Abdul Matin Bhuiyan spoke at the programme.
At the two-day conference, professor Panna Kaiser was elected as the chairman of the governing body of the central committee while Abul Farah Palash has been elected as the general secretary of Khelaghar.
