The Gemcon Group awarded two writers with the Gemcon Literary Award 2010 in a function held at Sheraton Hotel in Dhaka on Monday.
Wasi Ahmed got the award for his book ‘Trishimana’ and Emran Kabir for ‘Nidragahan Mohashunney’.
The program was inaugurated by a welcome speech from Gemcon Group director Kazi Anis Ahmed.
Writers Hayat Mahmud and Mainul Ahsan Saber delivered the address of honor on behalf of the jury board.
Prominent literary personalities of the country like Zillur Rahman Siddiqui, writer Hassan Azizul Haque, poet Syed Shamsul Haque, Professor Mustafa Nurul Islam, poet Belal Chowdhury, poet Nirmalendu Gun, poet Rafique Azad and poet Kamal Chowdhury presented the crests, uttario and books of the writers published by Kagoj publisher to the winners.
Gemcon Group chaiman Kazi Shahed Ahmed presented the cash prizes of Tk 20,000 and TK 25,000.
Professor Rafiqul Islam, Professor Khandakar Ashraf Hossain, Professor Nazrul Islam, Dr Khaled Hossain, Dr Bishwajit Ghosh, ambassador Walliur Rahman, Bangla Academy director general Samsuzzaman Khan, poet Mahadev Saha, writer Selina Hossain and University Grants Commission chairman Professo Nazrul Islam were also present.
