Bangladesh will play India in their third group B match of the AFC Under-16 Women’s Championship qualifiers at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today.
Bangladeshi girls are highly motivated after two successive victories over Jordan and UAE and feel no pressure against the highest ranked side of the group India (53rd in FIFA women’s ranking).
This is a do-or-die match for India, who lost to Iran 1-2 in their first match. But Bangladesh said they are ready to face the backlash.
‘Our players gained a huge confidence after beating Jordan and UAE in the previous matches,’ said coach Goalm Rabbani Choton.
‘We know that India are very strong opponents, but I believe, if my players can continue the form from the last two matches and play within their ability, then anything can happen.’
Bangladesh trained for one-and-half hour at the BUET Ground to prepare for the game, where a win will give them a realistic chance of qualifying for the final round in China.
‘We will not change our strategy,’ said coach Choton. ‘What we have implemented in the last matches and we will try to do the same against India.’
The match will start from 5:00pm while Jordan will play against UAE in the first match of the day.
