The visiting AFC Under-19 football players and team officials brushed off security fear, saying they are enjoying their time in Bangladesh. Rajabov Sherzod, a spokesman of Uzbekistan Under-19 team praised the local hospitality saying that everything was going nice for his team. ‘We haven’t faced any problems here. Hotel facilities are good and we don’t have any question about the security that is being provided to us,’ he said.
The comments from Uzbekistan official came at a time when Australia cricket team postponed their Bangladesh tour and Football Federation Australia sought to relocate their World Cup qualifying matches.
Bangladesh Football Federation is confident FIFA will not ask it to relocate the World Cup match.
The ongoing AFC Under-19 qualifying tournament featuring Uzbekistan, Bhutan and Sri Lanka could be a big help for them.
Bhutan head coach Chokey Nima also expressed his satisfaction over the security.
‘We are very happy with all the arrangements,’ Nima told New Age. ‘I can’t speak on behalf of FFA but for us everything is excellent.’
Tournament’s local general coordinator Jaber Bin Taher Ansari said they have taken some extra measures to make the security foolproof.
‘We asked all participating teams to inform the local authority about their every movement. We are providing them security everywhere,’ he said.
