United Commercial Bank Saturday launched UCash, a mobile financial service of the bank aiming to provide the unbanked population of the country with banking service and facilities.
UCB chairman MA Hashem inaugurated the service at a programme held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka, said a press release. The programme was also addressed by UCB vice-chairman Sharif Zahir, executive committee chairman Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, audit committee chairman ATM Zahirul Alam, director MA Sabur, directors Md Jahangir Alam Khan and Md Tanvir Khan, and managing director Muhammed Ali, among others.
According to UCB officials, Ucash has already appointed over 10,000 agents. Initially the service will be available through two mobile phone operators — Robi and Airtel, they said.
The people will get interest on the money deposited by UCash service from the very first day, the officials said.
