Artistes of Bangladesh Udichi Silpagoshthi entertained a houseful audience on Wednesday at the Music and Dance Centre hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy presenting works of three maestros of Bangla literature.
In the cultural programme styled Hey Sathi Ajke Sopner Din Gona artistes presented songs and poems composed by Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam and Sukanta Bhattacharya. They also performed colourful dance recitals.
The show began with a tribute paper recitation by Belayet Hossain and Mahbub Selim. It covered evaluation of works of Tagore, Nazrul and Sukanta and a few poems such Tagore’s Krishnakali, Nazrul’s Pichhudak and Sukanta’s Chharpatra and Runner.
The music part began with a chorus presentation of Tagore’s song Nishidin bhalobasis. The chorus also entertained the audience rendering Nazrul’s Mora ekti brinte duti kusum and Sukanta’s Himalay theke Sunderban.
Shamim Al mamun, Ashraful Alam and Biplob Raihan could satisfy the thirst of the music lovers at the programme giving solo recitals of Sukanta’s Obak prithibi obak korle, Nazrul’s Eto jolo o kajol and Tagore’s Megh bolechhe jabo jabo respectively.
Dancers presented colourful recitals synchronised two Tagore classics such as Hey mohamanobo and Kanna hasir dol.
‘We have organised the programme to pay tribute to three great poets of Bangla literature, who have unique styles of depicting human emotions in touching manner’, said Jamshed Anwar Tapan, who compiled the programme.
‘We enjoyed the programme which successfully presented works of three major poets with due respect’, said Hasanur Reza, an audience.
‘I never listened to Sukanta’s songs. I enjoyed thsoe’, said a delighted Shahnaz Reba.
