Unidentified miscreants set fire on bus of the students of Rajshahi University early on Tuesday on the campus. Two night guards— Saidur Rahman and Obaidur Rahman— said that they suddenly saw flames and smoke coming out of the bus parked at the university bus stand at 12:10am.
On information, fire service vehicles rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. But in the meantime, the bus was almost burnt.
Later, university vice-chancellor Muhammad Nurullah and proctor Chowdhury Muhammad Zakaria visited the scene.
They said it could not be ascertained who were responsible for the fire. The university authorities would form a probe body to investigate into the incident.
Fire services’ workers said it could be presumed initially that the bus was set on fire after spreading gun powder in the bus.
Motihar police officer-in-charge Anisur Rahman said no case was filed in this connection till filing this report.
