The US government yesterday handed over three metal shark ambulance boats to the Bangladesh Coast Guard in Chittagong to help provide treatment to the people in coastal areas.
US Ambassador to Bangladesh Dan W Mozena handed over the metal shark boats to the Coast Guard at a ceremony at the headquarters of Coast Guard East Zone in the port city.
The ambulance boats will be used for providing treatment to the coastal people specially in the aftermath of any disaster. The boats will also be used for giving immediate treatment to the sick and injured sailors in the outer anchorage of the Chittagong Port.
State Minister for Home Affairs Shamsul Haque Tuku, Coast Guard Director General Kazi Sarwar Hossain and Rear Admiral Thomas Carney of US Navy also spoke.
