Defending champions Usha Krira Chakra managed a convincing 13-1 victory over Azad Sporting in their first group B match in the UCBL Club Cup Hockey at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Wednesday. Penalty corner specialist and national team captain Mamunur Rahman Chayan scored four goals for Usha, while fellow national players Zahid Bin Talib, Krishna Kumar and Mainul Islam Kowshik scored two apiece.
Belal Hossain, Sarwar Hossain and Tapash Barman also joined in with one goal each. Azad Sporting, whose team is primarily made up of BKSP students, failed to pose any difficulties for their much stronger opponents, who have seven national players.
Mohammed Mohsin scored Azad Sporting’s only goal in the fourth minute.
