Usha Krira Chakra will bring in four Indian players to boost their team strength before the UCBL Club Cup Hockey final, a team official said on Friday.
Usha have signed Azitesh Roy, Roshon Minz, Dibakar Ram and Sukhjit Singh for the rest of the season. All of the new additions except goalkeeper Singh have represented the Indian national team in the past.
Forward Roshon Minz last played for India team in 2012 while Usha confirmed forward Azitesh and Dibakar played in the defense.
The four Indian players will arrive in Dhaka on Tuesday. Usha Krira Chakra had wanted to bring them over before Sunday but they have been forced to wait due to their inability to find flights.
‘We had planned to bring them before the semi-final match, but due to the flight crisis they will arrive on Tuesday,’ said team manager Rafiqul Islam Kamal, ‘If we will move to the final then we will get their service.’
Usha had earlier decided to recruit Pakistani players, as well as Pakistani coach Rana Zahir, but changed their decision in light of deteriorating relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Usha appointed former national team star Mamunur Rashid as their coach for the rest of the season.
