Reigning Dhaka Premier League champions Victoria Sporting Club will take on newly-promoted Kalabagan Cricket Academy at the BKSP in one of the three first-round matches on September 10, the opening day of the league, said a press release of Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis on Friday. Gazi Tank Cricketers will face another promoted side Khelaghar Samaj Kallayan Samity at Bogra and Brothers Union will play against Prime Bank Cricket Club at the Rajshahi stadium in the other two games of the first day.
A reserved day has been included in the fixtures in case of rain interruption and if any game remains incomplete on the reserved day then the points will be split between the participating teams.
On September 12, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club will face Kalabagan Krira Chakra at Rajshahi, Abahani Cricket Club will meet Cricket Coaching School at BKSP while Prime Doleshwar will be up against Mohammedan Sporting Club at Bogra.
Two matches of the second round, which starts on September 15, will be played at BKSP 2 and 3 while the Fatullah Cricket Stadium in Narayanganj will host the day’s other match to ease the pain of the clubs of playing far away from the capital.
Victoria will play Khelaghar SC at Fatullah, while the matches between Gazi Tank and Brothers Union and Prime Bank and Kalabagan KC will be played at BKSP 3 and 2 respectively.
On September 17, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club will take on Cricket Coaching School at BKSP 3, Prime Doleswar will play Abahani at BKSP 2 while Mohammedan will face Kalabagan Cricket Academy at Fatullah.
The Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis will send a letter to the cricketers to return the money they had taken in advance from the clubs for participating in
the Dhaka Premier League, CCDM chairman Jalal Yunus said on Friday.
The question was raised after several clubs informed that they had paid a substantial amount of money to the players as part payment that all went in vain after Bangladesh Cricket Board introduced a new transfer system for this year’s premier league.
Gazi Tank Cricketers had claimed to have spent around Tk 1 crore on player payments that included several major stars of the national team, though it hardly had any value with the players-by-choice transfer that took place on August 25.
‘We will ask the players to return the money to the clubs that they had taken as advance,’ Jalal told reporters on Friday.
‘We have asked them [both clubs and players] to provide us with the vouchers,’ said Yunus.
However, Jalal could not guarantee the first instalment of players’ payment that was expected to be made before the start of the league.
‘I think by September 15 the players will receive the first instalment of the payment,’ he said.
The BCB had earlier said that the players’ payment would be made in three instalments of 40 and 30 and 30 per cent.
