Victory Day celebrations began simultaneously in seven places in Dhaka on Saturday. Different Cultural organisations have been participating and performing music, dance, recitation and street theatre at the venues including the Central Shaheed Minar, Rabindra Sarabar, Shaheed Buddhijibi Smriti Soudha Mancha, Dania, Mirpur and Shishu Academy and Uttara.
It is a part of Sammilito Sangskritik Jote’s four-day celebrations programme that was inaugurated by the members of a number of martyred families on Friday at the Central Shaheed Minar.
The opening day’s programme began with placing flower wreaths on the Central Shaheed Minar in memory of the martyrs.
Child artistes of dance troupe Spandan presented a colourful recital, composed by Anik Bose, synchronised with the inspirational song Purba digante surja uthechhe.
The dance was followed by vibrant presentation of popular inspirational songs those boosted the freedom fighters during the war by 43 members of Bangladesh Gano Sangeet Samannay Parishad.
The audience also hummed with the songs preformed such as Bijayer nishan urchhe, bhoy ki marone and Teer hara ei deu-er.
Bangladesh Gano Sangeet Samannay Parishad also rendered the national anthem of the country.
Recitation artiste Bhaswar Bandopaddhay presented Shamsur Rahman’s famous poem Swadhinata Tumi.
Earlier, general secretary of Sammilito Sangskritik Jote Hasan Arif delivered the welcome speech. President of the organisation Nasiruddin Yousuff, its vice president Golam Kuddus, director general of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky, joint convenor of the celebrations programme Jhuna Chowdhury, among others delivered speeches at the programme.
