Wasik: Wonder boy in cyber world

At the tender age of four, when most kids can at best play only games on computer, Wasik Farhan Roopkotha is talented enough to operate Windows XP, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access, Adobe Photoshop and surf the internet like a veteran, reports UNB.
The born genius, a resident of Gulshan in the city, unbelievably started toying around with the mouse and keyboard attached to his parents’ computer when he was barely seven months old.
Roopkotha, who was born on 27th January 2006, is now capable of operating the computer all by himself.
The IT professionals at Cosmos Centre expressed wonder at witnessing the computer skills of the minor boy.
Roopkotha, whose name means ‘fairytale’ in English, demonstrated his extraordinary proficiency at the computer using different software.
He made folders and saved those at directed drives, installed software and games CDs, made graphs and tables, played various tough games, browsed internet and edited images in Photoshop without any hesitation.
It was enthralling to see the boy type words with his tiny fingers on the keyboard. He can type as swiftly as any highly efficient typist without having to look at the keyboard.
“Roopkotha is a special gift of the Almighty Allah. In fact, what he showed within a short time is really incredible. I think the competence he has attained on the computer at this early age, many of my computer graduate colleagues have not attained that level,” remarked Abdullah Mukhaffar, Cosmos Telecom computer engineer, after observing his performance.
According to his mother Cynthia Farheen Risha, everyday the boy spends more than 12 hours with the computer. He has already played more than 200 games and completed many complicated games like Sonic-knuckles, Hercules, Air Rival, Age of Mythology, Motor Racer, Sky Target, Metal Gear Solid, Mig-29, Mario Forever, Mario Galaxy, Stunt Pilot, Dog Fight 2, Need for Speed, Sonic 3D, Dave 3, Star Defender and Resident Evil 3.
Risha claimed that her amazing kid is familiar with all computer programmes, and acquired a high level of knowledge on both software and hardware.
She also said that Roopkotha could install any software and games properly, can browse the internet easily, upload and download pictures and edit them using Photoshop, or even Adobe Illustrator, which is a difficult software to master.
