Leading Bangladeshi business conglomerates Intraco Group has signed a mem-orandum of understanding with Nicco Park and Resorts Ltd, India to set up a water park at the popular sea resort of Cox’s Bazar at Chittagong.
“The water park will come up in an area of four acre already earmarked. The total project will cost around US$10million,” said a Nicco Park spokesman.
A team including Bangladesh’s Commerce Minister Muhammad Faruk Khan, MP, FBCCI President AK Azad and Intraco Group Managing Director Md Riyadh Ali were present at the signing ceremony in Kolkata on December 25, 2010.
“Cox’s Bazar is known for its longest natural sea beach in the world, stre-tching over 120 kilometers. The longest sea beach is interspersed with towering cliffs, religious shrines and tribal groups. All these have one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Bangladesh. We want to turn this into our advantage,” said Nicco Chief executive Arijit Senghupta.
Setting up its first amusement park in Kolkata in 1991 with technical support from UK-based Blackpool Pleasure Beach Ltd, Nicco went on to set up seven dry parks and four water parks in three different states in India and also one in Bangladesh. The company has also worked for projects in the UK, UAE and Germany.
