Mismanagement marked the end of the FIFA World Cup trophy display that enthralled thousands of spectators during its three-day stay in Bangladesh capital Dhaka.
A huge number of fans returned with broken hearts on Thursday, the final day of its tour, as the organisers finished the display programme at 2:15pm at Radisson Water Garden hotel with the enthusiasts still in the queue.
The organisers earlier stopped taking photos of the trophy with the fans, denying dozens of them once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of making the occasion memorable.
After some criticism, the Bangladesh Football Federation held a session for the national players, who came to the venue donning national team jerseys, adding an extra colour to the programme.
However, an untoward incident happened when a young national player got involved in a squabble with the hotel staff after they reportedly refused to allow him to enter the venue with some of his family members who did not have any valid tickets.
The security officials allegedly pushed him after he started arguing, ensuing an ugly scene. Some fans who had valid tickets but were denied an entry into the venue also started shouting, which created a pandemonium.
The BFF, however, quickly resolved the matter with Toklis Ahmed and the hotel authorities also apologised to him.
